On August 26, 1813, one of the most decisive – and chaotic – battles of the Napoleonic Wars took place just a few kilometers from The Oak Lodge. Rain, mud, and a bold counterattack turned the tide of history on the banks of the Katzbach.

In the summer of 1813, Napoleon himself rode through the Bóbr Valley. Just a few kilometers from The Oak Lodge, villages burned, troops clashed, and the emperor made Lwówek Śląski his temporary headquarters. Today, the landscape tells its story – if you know how to listen.

In 1241, Europe turned its eyes to Silesia. A foreign force from the East – unstoppable, brutal, and undefeated – had reached the doorstep of Central Europe. The Battle of Wahlstatt, fought between Mongol invaders and Christian knights, became one of the most decisive moments of the Middle Ages.

The Battle of Leuthen, fought on December 5, 1757, marked a major triumph for Frederick the Great, as his smaller Prussian army defeated the larger Austrian forces through superior strategy and tactics during the Seven Years’ War in lower Silesia.
