The Oak Lodge and the surrounding land has been providing food and livelihood to its residents for centuries. As a vast three-sided farm with large storage rooms and barns, it surely was one of the most efficient buildings of its time.

Today, centuries after its construction, it feels as if time is flowing different here.


What once demanded productivity, has given way to a desire for slowness in nature and modern farms are out of competition. In our farming practices, we embrace a seasonal rhythm, growing various plants in small quantities and high-quality using traditional methods & knowledge.

Roots

& Harvest

Vegetables, Nuts & Fruits

The old trees on the lodge grounds have been bearing fruit for many years, offering apples, pears, and various nuts.

Bushes produce blackberries, while different grape varieties thrive on the south side of the house and in the courtyard. 

Depending on the season, we also plant pumpkins, various vegetables or potatoes, adding to the bounty of nature.

Truffles & Mushrooms

In ancient mythology, truffles were believed to appear when the earth gets hit by the Godfathers lightning bolts. This mystical origin, their unique taste and medical legends, made them symbols of magic & luxury. 


Today we know that they are mushrooms, synergizing with the roots of bushes and trees. Under the right climatic conditions, they grow in many parts of Europe, and it is possible to initially plant them by using specially incubated plants which carry the mycelium.


Besides that, the area of the Lodge offers multiple places with perfect conditions to cultivate other mushrooms for natural flavor and variety.

Lavender & Herbs

Lavender has been cherished as a special herb for centuries.

The Romans used it in ritual baths, in the Middle Ages, it was believed to ward off evil spirits, in spagyrics, it is valued as a harmonizing plant, and it has been used in folk medicine during all times.


Lavender is not only visually stunning but also incredibly versatile, and it's the perfect plant to grow at The Lodge.

Together with other traditional European herbs. Carefully planted on natural grounds, away from roads or pesticides.
